A Guided Therapeutic Retreat
Embracing the Difficult:
Healing through the Dark Emotions
2nd - 6th October 2023 Bala Brook Dartmoor

Would you like help with difficult emotions?

...anger, fear, pain, despair, grief, loss, loneliness, anxiety...

This Therapeutic Retreat will support and guide you through what is hard to meet, to find a place of welcome, understanding and more ease.
With the holding of nature, beauty, wisdom and kindness we will provide exercises, reflections, rituals, gentle body practices, to enable you to feel, express, make sense of, in order to develop a more harmonious relationship with yourself.

The Retreat
Run and held by Isla Macdonald counsellor and Focusing practitioner and Lucy Ascham Alexander teacher and family Constellations facilitator
Open to anyone who is interested, the only criteria for coming on this retreat are curiosity and a willingness to be there. New to this or an old hand, everyone is welcome.

You might come because you are feeling disconnected or anxious, find yourself frightened or angry, resentful or grieving, sad or overwhelmed, wondering what to do. You may want to find new ways of meeting yourself.
When we shut out difficulty we shut out parts of ourselves. By allowing what's here, with enough support, we can begin to welcome back lighter happier emotions too. This work is about reclaiming life and finding more ease and freedom on the inside.

We are offering a safe, held, guided space with talks, gentle body work, explorations, sharing, reflections and group work. There will be nature based activities as well as times for rest, walks, chatting and laughter. The evenings will bring fires, dancing and maybe some story telling.

Bala Brook is a very lovely small retreat centre near South Brent on Dartmoor with a brook, woodland, garden areas and wild spaces, the back gate opens onto the moor itself. There are a variety of footpaths and road walks and places to river swim.
There is a beautifully converted house with kitchen and sitting area, bedrooms and group room and a delightful glass and oak yoga studio with further accommodation. The bedrooms are newly decorated, some ensuite and three are 'accessible'. Unless we are completely booked out we will have single rooms. Do check out their website with its images gallery.
The food provided will be tasty, freshly cooked and vegetarian.
